Mobile Phones for Seniors

People of all ages and walks of life can now have a mobile phone that fits their needs. Mobile phones for seniors have become a growing market as more people realize that having a phone can be essential for safety. With the improvements in technology, there are now mobile phones that can suite a variety of different customer needs.

As with every different kind of consumer, seniors have special needs that are unique to them when it comes to mobile phones. Whether living on their own or with assistance, seniors need the ability to communicate with caretakers and loved ones, from wherever they are, in case of an emergency or particular health concern.

Many seniors have been hesitant to get a mobile phone because of complicated contracts that lock them in for extended periods of time and confusing features. Finding the right mobile phone has not been easy for seniors until now. Many find it most convenient to have a mobile phone with basic calling features, one that is comfortable to hold, and has easy to read numbers. This allows for maximum comfort for those who may not be very familiar with owning a cell phone or people with special health needs.

TracFone has extensive coverage, no contract or activation fee, and lets you choose your features so you only get the right ones for your needs. With TracFone, you can choose the phone that is easiest for you to use and you only pay for the minutes you need with a prepaid calling card. Dialing 911 emergency services is always free on your TracFone so even if you run out of minutes your mobile phone can still help keep you safe. The upkeep of your TracFone is easy; just buy the minutes you need and keep the phone active every 90 days. The flexibility you get with a TracFone can be a perfect fit for seniors and is important for safety in your car, at home, and everywhere else.

I love the tracfone option for my teen daughter. She is now asking for a phone with a full keyboard (Qwerty) and I can't seem to locate a tracfone with that option. Are they coming anytime soon? If not, can I buy a full keyboard phone from another carrier and use it with tracfone service?

There are presently no qwerty TracFones but our sister companies Net10 and Straight Talk do offer them and are well worth investigating.

Are you going to get a keyboard phone for tracfone cuz alot of people have been complaining cuz u are saying you are going to but i havent seen it in stores or advertistments yet i want one really for my daughter she is such a texter and tracfone should make a card for unlimited texting????

TRACFONE said...

@adrian: Things change all the time, but there are no qwerty phones currently available from TracFone.

You may want to take a look at Net10, Straight Talk and Net10 Unlimited for qwerty phones, available now.

If we buy a phone from one of your sister companies, Net10 or Straight Talk, can we keep our same phone numbers and transfer our unused minutes? A qwerty keyboard is almost a necessity for seniors, especially for keeping in touch with grandchildren.

I would also like to know the answer to this question. I'd be willing to go to a sister company if I could keep the same # and get Qwerty board + transfer minutes. Better yet, Trac should get one!!

@Mary @Susan

Your numbers can be ported from TracFone to NET10 (or vice versa).

Because each brand uses a different system, though, your Airtime is not transferable between the brands.

I am also interested in a TracFone with a qwerty board. Is there any chance you will begin carrying one in the next 6 months?

I am 13 so texting is a huge part of my life. Is there any chance that tracfone is coming out with a full keyboard anytime soon? I also want to switch over to net10 but the bill is $15 instead of $10. At 13 Im not even old enough to get a job to help pay for this stupid bill!
is there any chance, track, that you can have the same deals as net10 but cheaper...and have full keyboards?

Hubby has the safelink phone and is hard of hearing and a qwerty phone would be oh sooo much easier for him. Please, please check into making qwerty board phones for the seniors who want to keep in contact with the kids. It is such a great way too keep in touch with the kids he sooo loves.

I've been with Tracfone for years and have no desire or intention of switching, but it sure would be nice if Tracfone came out with a full qwerty keyboard phone.

Okay... so I am also a 13 year old girl who is definately switching over to net10. (not that i dont like tracfones, but i want a full keyboard lol) My dad says I can but only when I use all of my minutes. But thing is I still have lots of minutes left and I really want the phone before my trip this summer. (in two weeks) So I am just making sure, we can't transfer minutes to a net10 phone?

Please get qwerty keyboards!!! I am 13 and texting with my current Tracfone is really difficult. My parents love Tracfone prices though so they won't let me switch companies. If Tracfone got qwerty keyboards my life would be 10 times better!

Postmaster said...

HanBan411: Sorry. Minutes are not transferable between TracFone and NET10.

But the good news is that new NET10 phones come with 300 minutes upon activation. Enjoy!

I'm really looking for a full keyboard phone. my tracfone just broke about two days ago, and I'm looking for a new one. I text a lot, and I really want a full keyboard phone. I know that my number can be switched to net10 (who have full keyboard phones) but my parents don't want me to switch to net10 and want me to stay on tracfone. I've been waiting for a full keyboard phone for over a year and you still haven't come out with one yet, which I think would be a good decision, since everyone is asking you when you are coming out with one. I just want to know if you are coming out with one anytime soon.

My tracfone broke a couple days ago, and I'm really looking for a full keyboard phone, because I text a lot. My parents don't want me to swicth to net10, because they really like tracfone. I think it would be a really good idea if you would come out with a full keyboard phone, because I know a lot of people want one from you. I was just wondering if you are going to come out with one in the next couple months. Thanks!

I'm 74 years old, computer literate, college educated and retired. Genetically programmed to live to at least 100 years, I'm going to wait till you get smart enough to offer a full board capable of rapid texting.

I saw a Samsung T401G tracfone on Samsung's website. Where can I buy one?

Postmaster said...

No plans for a QWERTY keyboard phone but if/when things change, we will announce it here. Thanks!

Postmaster said...

Hi littlemomochase: Sorry! If your phone is not working properly, please contact Customer Service: 1-800-867-7183. Thanks.

Postmaster said...

Hi Heather: It's available from NET10, a TracFone sister brand: http://tinyurl.com/2anfla3

Thanks!

It's about time that Tracfone got better phones.....I think that it would be a great idea if they had an unlimited texting card for 90 days that was added onto the airtime card. Also I was wondering why they don't have full-keyboard phones.....so if I got a phone from Net 10 could I transfer it to Tracfone and then add airtime on the phone that I got from Net10?

Postmaster said...

Hi Michelle. Thanks for the suggestion.

TracFones and NET10 phones only work on their own networks and are not interchangeable. Thanks.

I moved fron area code 614 to area code 919. Can I keep my phone number but change its area code so it's a local call in this area?

I know I posted this on the other blog but Imma post it again just in case it didn't work: Is this just a rumor or did you guys really just come out with a qwerty pad keyboard phone? My sister told me she went to radio shack and saw one there but I have not found one on the website. Is this true and if so when will it come to stores. I am so excited for this new phone I bet all my friends will be getting them. Tracfone's first present day phone. Good job guys!!!

Postmaster said...

Nothing new on the qwerty front. If/when there is, we'll shout about it here, promise!

Postmaster said...

rwa325: Yes. Customer Service will take care of that for you: 800-867-7183. Thanks!

If I purchase a Net10 phone and put my Tracfone SIM card in it, can I activate it through Tracfone? If so, can I transfer minutes?

Postmaster said...

Hi Heather; TracFones and NET10 phones only work on their own networks and are not interchangeable. You can port your phone number but you will need to buy a new phone and your minutes will not transfer.

al said...

can i buy a straight talk phone and activate it with my sim from trac phone?

Postmaster said...

Hi al; Straight Talk service works exclusively with Straight Talk phones and no other. Thanks.

william said...

Net10, Straight Talk and Net10 Unlimited are much higher than tracfone and you do not get double minutes on phones or cards
all tracfone needs to do is get the phone they use on net 10 and put it on tracfone to with the keyboard
