Become Fluent in Emoji

Texting has become about more than just using words and acronyms these days. What happens when you’re trying to express an emotion but can’t really get the right words? What if you’re trying to say something simply? What if you want to respond in a playful way? Enter: emojis.

Emojis are small pictures, sent by text and are all the rage. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you become fluent in this new picto-language.

1. Keep it simple

When it comes to emojis, getting your point across is easy if you don’t overthink it. If you’re trying to say something like, “I will pick up a pizza and be home at 7,” you don’t need an emoji for each word. To get the point across, just use something simple like :

2. Use them unexpectedly

If you’re having a text conversation with your son or daughter answer them using emojis.

For example, if they want to stay out past their curfew, send them these:

If they got an A on their algebra exam, send these:

If they ask for your infamous candied yams recipe, send these:

They will be floored.

3. Have fun!

Emojis are supposed to be fun so use them in interesting and creative ways. You can have an entire conversation with emojis. Or you can just pepper them in when you’d like. But now you know how to read them and most importantly you can enjoy them with your family.

Having particularly good emoji conversations? Feel free to share them with us on the TracFone Facebook and Twitter pages.
